For the 2nd year in a row, Eddie will participate in the Las Vegas Marathon. Last year, a few months after being released from the hospital, Eddie ran the Zappos Half of a Half marathon with the help of family and friends. According to race organizers, Eddie was the first participant without hands and feet to finish the Half of the Half marathon. This year he hopes to finish the 13 mile half marathon. Eddie makes his first east coast speaking engagement at the Youth Sports Congress held this year in Orlando, FL. The event is organized by the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) in conjunction with the Athletic Business Conference & Expo. Eddie will be the keynote speaker for the presentation of the 2014 NAYS Awards. Eddie was honored as the 2013 Youth Coach of the Year and is the first recipient to be invited to return to speak at the ceremony the following year.
Invited back by Professor Shari Selnick, Eddie will speak to Professor Selnicks students about overcoming adversity and never giving up. Eddie is an alumni of Cal State Fullerton (1993-1998) and went from being on academic probation to graduating with a double major in Communications and Sociology. The exact date of his appearance is to be determined.
Eddie will be a guest demonstrator for prosthetics products manufacturer, Endolite North America. He will be demonstrating their Elan prosthetic foot at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV on September 4-6. Hosted by the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, the AOPA National Assembly is the country's oldest and largest meeting for the orthotic, prosthetic and pedorthic program.
